The uper note is from the year 2013, the bottom one is from 2022. There is a difference in the colours

In the Back side is obvious the differences.

The uper note is from 2013, the security threat is on the Midle of the value(5000)

In the bottom one the security threat is deslocated

Not sure exactly what you want to discuss. It seems that the line for 2022 is there.

In regards to the colour, it is general “best policy” to have the note in the same page & just to be a separate line if the colour variation is only quite slight. It's not significant enough to warrant a new separate page.

Basically, stop catalogue bloating. Same reason we don't have pages for each signature variant.

I know we have this on the UK notes where colour variations exist (Example: N#202356), and I think I've seen US(?) notes which have options for a red or blue seal.

Usually, minor changes are just given as a footnote in the “Comments” subsection. You could add something in there along the lines of “2022 notes use bolder colours on the zebras & logo”, “Security thread changed from red to black” or whatever else you wish to note. 🙂

In regards to placement of the thread, it's very common for the strips to wander slightly, even between notes of the same issue. Some sort of mechanical issue with an acceptable tolerance for difference.

Hello, thanks for the coment. I just thought this could be on of many variants that sometimes happen. Thank you for your coment

I see differences in the number of prefix letters on both notes, and the security thread looks different…the thread looks like it has some motion tech that the first one does not.  I think it warrants it's own page.  But you will probably have to just settle with it's own line.  Especially when people care more about “catalog bloat” then authentic cataloging.

US notes should have their own pages based on seals.  Fed reserves are a color. Silver certificates are another color. US notes are another color.  Gold certificates are another color… notes issued for use in North Africa are another color… if mixed colors are in a single listing it needs corrected.

Oklahoman - I'm happy to defer to your judgement; if you feel that there's enough variation to warrant a whole new page, then I don't see an issue with it.

My personal theory has always been if you handed a random person on the street these notes, would they spot the difference within 5 (or so) seconds? If not, then it's probably better being a line as it's close enough for “the average Joe”, and any differences are really for the collectors to debate.

And that's how I'd build the catalogue. An uninformed / beginner level would be able to find the right page very quickly, which most probably do by sight (I.e. photo). They might have to open 2-3 similar ones, but not like 10.

But I appreciate that this isn't my catalogue, but all of ours,  and my way of working may be quite different to others. I suppose I'm sacrificing the “full authentic catalogue” for a more basic “user-friendly catalogue”.

I'm easy going with it either way though. 🙂

Might be mistaken on the note seals. Or more likely, the country. I'll keep an eye out next time I'm browsing the US notes though. Thanks for the knowledge. 🙂

I hope my tone wasn't judgemental.  I agree with you more than I dont.   I think I was thinking about situations from central America where they have 5 or 6 different catalog numbers forced into a single page, regardless of imprint, clearly different engravings of portraits, guilloches, and vignettes with added or missing details…

I suspect that seperate lines that address differences of serial numbers and threading will be acceptable.  I have also noticed that thread placement can be inconsistent within the same date of note…

Thanks for your quality thoughts and contribution in the catalog.

Don't worry about it, I didn't take it as a harsh criticism or anything like that. I know it's just a minor difference of opinion on the exact boundaries, and I'm happy to defer to a referee on such topics. 🙂 Certainly not a big issue.

I know a lot of the “lesser” countries (from a collecting perspective, I don't mean that in a reflection on the country itself, just couldn't think of the right word) have a more hotch-potch catalogue & really could use a sort through to standardise into lines & pages. So, totally get your line of thinking.
