The year lines are too cluttered for no reason.

2001-2007: Elliptical "O" (in BANCO), curved date

2008-2012: Elliptical "O" (in BANCO), straight date

2013-now : Round "O" (in BANCO), straight date

There are absolutely no overlapping of those information in any year, so why write it in the year lines, the above 3 lines would be enough in the “Comments” section, if deemed necessary?

If i remember correctly, we had a similar situation with a mexican coin. I erased the data and then it had to be re-added. I guess some users collect by variety and the information on the yearline makes a huge difference when cataloging.

Except there are no varieties. The year on the coin determines exactly which year line it is. All the year line comments can be replaced in the Comment section with :

From 2001 to 2007 the “O” is elliptical and the date is curved.

From 2008 to 2024 the “O" is round and the date is straight.

All the messy year line comments can be deleted. I think @Sjoelund might even make a graphic showing the two styles.

Comments are meant to give information to users directly.

There are users who collect just for types, others want all years, variants, mints, etc. and others just collect for mints, other by variations. (I am one who collect by mints and variations, but not by years, so I want ).

If those details are only on comments section, when you check to see if you have it or it is missing, you must open each page to see the general comments; if they are in variety lines, you may skip the step. This is more useful when you are processing a swap; if there is nothing in variety lines, 1) you need to remember there are variations on design; 2) you need to open every page to check the comments, then go to variety lines to see what you have and what is offered by swap partner.

Now I think how the year lines are messy and cluttered?, the comments are only 4 words, if you consider “O” as a word (not taking into account now they are  called variety lines, not year lines anymore).

By te way “O” is not for “BANCO”, is for the shape of the wreath on top of coat of arms, and there is already  a graphics showing it, and there are not 2 variations, but 3.

Just 10 options: you understand binary, or you don't.
Catalog Referee Coins, Banknotes & Exonumia: Uruguay, Cuba, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Panama, Ecuador, Zamunda, Parva Domus and more.

Thanks for explanation about the O, but you got it wrong, sorry, see below:

I hope you accept my documentation. I'll make a corresponding CR, and all your text above is not really relevant, is it?

OK, I'm rewinding this.

We had the same discussion 4 months ago, https://en.numista.com/forum/topic150379.html @Jasanche it was not about Mexican coin, was about this same coin and N#2446

@Sjoelund you are right, I got wrong about “O” in “BANCO”/wreath shapes on the current graphics at coin page; again it was lack of information, the graphics show differences from this coin to previous years issue. I will add the note immediately, so will not lead more people to confusion. Hopely, I can blame previous referee for not adding it (Just kiddin').  (In fact now I see not only “O” is different; “B”, “D”, “Ú”, “R” have noticeable differences when compared, if not all letters)

Of course I will accept your your documentation, please make request; it makes sense, as usual.

About all my text, I still think variety line is not cluttered, with only 4 words. In fact it may useful  for many people, myself included). And also I still think there are 3 variants (by combination), as you pointed on your first post.

Thanks, the CR has been made with a comment of the graphs already in the comments section in the Source field.
