Scottish First Polymer £5 Note Feb 2015

Hi,

I have a pile of these direct from the bank in 2015, Serial Nos FB/1 507xxx mostly, and uncirculated condition.

I note that the inscription reads “UNESCO World Heritage Site Nomination” and with Thorburn signature.

I note that both the inscription and signatory changed the following year.

Is there any collectors value to these before I spend them all ? I originally got them as float/change for events so they have sat for 10 years now.

Thanks in advance

Both types have a slightly higher than face value value, though neither are particularly rare.

I believe the “nomination” ones are a little bit rarer.

You can probably get about £10-£12 a piece depending on condition, judging by past sales on a certain auction site.

However, you must remember that's before they take commission, and of course, you'll need to make the effort to post them.

They're pretty plentiful so they might sit a while, although if you job lot them, you'll get more interest & a quicker sale (though probably a lower per-note value).

So, yes, there's some value there, but not massive. Depends on whether you want to make the effort really.

If your notes are in UNC condition, there is always a demand for it as these are not that expensive. Only 3 prefixes were issued - FB/1, FB2 and ZZ/1. I too managed to get all 3 prefixes at face value back then from the bank. This series was also issued with a folder at 3 pounds extra.

Currently, they sell for around £15 each in UNC. A lot were kept!

However, I do think that they will appreciate in value over time.
