100 lire Mussolini Gold fantasy coin Valuation and best place to sell ?

3 posts • viewed 213 times

Hello

Im uk based and would like some advice on the best places to sell this coin and any opinions on valuation. Ive been in touch with these auction houses ( Baldwins, Warwick & Warwick, Hansons, and tennants ). From the responses ive received it seems that my best option would be to go to a bullion dealer and sell it as scrap gold. Any advice would be appreciated many thanks.

Welcome to Numista. First you should know that you cannot sell coins here, we only swap and trade. Second they gave you sound advice and that is exactly what you should do if you choose to part with it. They will verify gold content and treat it as scrap gold if genuine.

Numista got only cupro nickel variant.

If people are correct about metal and fineness, you have Italian X# 7 from Unusual world coins : companion volume to Standard catalog of world coins, 2008, 5th edition. You can find that book on http://archive.org. page 311

Krauze valued BU quality at 500 USD in 2008. Current gold prices are higher.

“Melt it down” will always give you raw metal value, if you are looking for profit and can't buy buyer. It would put smelter next to those, who shot at mountain cause they did not like it.

Can you give permission to use your images under selected Creative commons license? You can find available license types in your numista profile settings. If you have that medal registered in numista with correct fineness, weight and metal, you will see raw metal value on coin/medal page.
