Merovingian tremissis ?

Hello everyone,

I am seeking your expertise to help identify this Merovingian gold coin, weighing 1.18g.

I am wondering if it could be a Merovingian tremissis or a specific issue. Any information regarding the mint, dating, or potential local ruler would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for sharing your valuable knowledge!

Nice coin.

Did a search with the filters: gold, 1 to 2 g, 400 to 700 AD.

Two coins under Theudebert II (Frankish Kingdoms, Kingdom of Austrasia) stand out because of the the big AR like in yours.

None of them are a match, the letterings don't fit. But I think it may be a clue.

Right or wrong clue, what's certain to me is that your coin is not yet on our catalog.

Good luck.

"Thank you for your response. Indeed, it would be a Tremissis (⅓) of Theudebert II for Clermont-Ferrand in France. Link to the coin:"

Let me know if you need anything else!

That's the one I was thinking on. But compare the letterings surronding the AR and the portrait, they are not matching with yours.

That's why I was being careful in my response instead of outright pointing this coin.

I agree.

I think the reverse legend is the moneyer's name and MONI in the exergue, so the lettering can change on the reverse.

I think this one is more similar in style:  https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=6492762

Can anyone id this possible gold coin weighs 1.23g please and possible value?
