Improve catalog search results

Hi

i wonder if anyone has any ideas on how to improve the catalog search result.

I have done a search for circulating and circulating commemorative coins using only the year as a filter eg 1961.

since doing this search and having gone through the results to ensure I’m picking up any variants of any particular coin I’ve found that some coins are completely missing from the search results.

for instance when doing the 1961 search, no coins were listed for South Korea at all yet I have since found there are two.

I have started laying out albums based on the results so to suddenly find additional coins that hadn’t a space allocated is a pain as it involves shuffling the albums.

is there a better or more accurate way to search

thanks in advance

Kevin

Have you used year or Gregorian date? The first is for what is written on the object the later for the often ‘actual’ year (some coins have frozen dates, different calendars correspond to different years etc.)

Query for South Korea

Hi

i used ‘year’, I have just run the search again, using ’year’ I get 265 results, using ‘gregorian’ date I get 323, thanks for that.

i wish i had known this as each of my birth year collections will need to be searched again, oh well, better late than never :)

Another problem, if you want to be precise, is that various calendars are not exactly overlapping the Gregorian one: to each Gregorian year there are TWO corresponding years in other calendars, so that technically you have to check for each of them the year that corresponds your birth date (day/month).

Been there, done that 😝

I had noticed the overlap once by chance, I will keep that in mind too in future

thanks
