Unknown European/Crusader Coin [solved]

2 posts • viewed 52 times

Hello all,

This was a coin that was rediscovered from a bucket of old coins and have been researching it ever since. I do believe that this is a coin from Europe or from one of the Crusader states as seen with the obverse depicting what looks to be Jesus with raised arms.

It is between 22-23 mm and it is 1.5mm in thickness. Seems to be a non-precious alloy but it is hard to tell.

Hope this helps!

Possibly Byzantine.  Mary is more often the figure with hands raised (“orans”), but not sure we can see enough to say for sure.
