Hello guys, need your help with this Duchy of Lorraine Denier of Charles II. I know the type but I cant find this type for Sierck-les-Baind mint, on Numista the obverse is different (N#79443), maybe my coin is a mule? Any expert on french medieval coins can help me on this one? Thanks in advance!

Hello,

your coin is this one

reference book is ”Recherches sur les monnaies des ducs héréditaires de Lorraine, F. de SAULCY”

https://www.cgb.fr/recherches-sur-les-monnaies-des-ducs-hereditaires-de-lorraine-saulcy-f-de,locc8510,a.html

Have a good day  !

I guess you may have the english version,  this link is an overview of Charles II Duc de Lorraine and Charles VII King of France in the same years. Easy to being confused 🤔

Nice ID 3emeRep.

It (Sierck) seems to be a scarce type.  I could not find an example on acsearch or MA-shops.  Maybe there is one in the cgb archives?

Ramgu2005, you could add it to the catalog!

Thanks a lot @3emeRep ! Can you tell me which is the value for my coin in this condition? I cant find this type anywhere!

Hi @ramgu2005

honestly I dont have an idea related to the ”scarce” condition and the conservation state.

In order to give you an overview

That one is some 50€ (de Saulcy table VIII N#12b)

(single denier ? 8 grains like yours)

And the following about 120€ (edit : DS table VIII N#7b)

(double denier)

Hope this help.

🙂

@3emeRep  My coin has 0,42 grams and aprox 16mm diameter. I think its a single Denier.

for the single I have 0,35gr 15mm and for the double 0,70gr 18mm (call me lucky)

little mistake of mine my double is fig.7b, and single is 12b, both of table XIII,

your coin  is table IX N#2b (as said upper)
