Weight ,Diameter and Composition are similar to 6 Bagattini - Francesco Molin
Obverse: Half-length facing Madonna with Child on right, R. C. - L. A. arching from upper left to upper right, value '6' in exergue.
Reverse: Half-length facing figure of St. Mark with lettering “sanctus marcus” which is where the problem arises. I have googled this coin but cant find the same combination of Obverse and Reverse .
Any ideas please.
I only collect Commonwealth coins.
I do NOT collect notes.
Be careful Numista refers to Francesco Molin as ruler from 1646 to 1676, although there were actually several other rulers for these “Bezzo da 6 bagattini” :
Francesco Molin (1646-1655) Carlo Contarini (1655-1656) Francesco Corner (1656) Bertucci Valier (1656-1658) Giovanni Pesaro (1658-1659) Domenico Contarini (1659-1674) Nicolò Sagredo (1675-1676)
As you can see on the lettering between brackets on the KM# 77, there are a lot of letter combinations possible for this coin. Yours has SANCTUS written in full, so MARC(VS) has to be further. The Krause picture has as legend only SAN so there is room for MARCUS on the bottom. So the placement of MARC(VS) doesn't rule out yours is KM# 77.
