I find the “Catalog → Contribute” feature a FANTASTIC way to encourage us (the users) to continuously improve the catalog, adding measurements and weights and missing or better pictures, and I've been doing so as much as I can in my spare time.

But in some cases (particularly with “small pictures” or “missing sizes”) the existing picture is indeed small, but it is a much better example of the one I have or I have the coin but is has been debased (smaller size and weight), and it would likely not be helpful to replace a smaller crispier picture for a larger one of a worn, dirty/scratched, or torn item; or to add the wrong size/weight.

SUGGESTION: Would it be too hard to add a way for the user to remove an item from their list? Either a “remove from list” button or checkbox besides each item or any other simple mean would do.  This could be further improved with a “Reset list” button on top of the page to re-display the entire list showing all previously removed items.

This would enable the user to focus on the items where she or he can actually help creating an even better catalog for all of us.

Thanks for your kind attention.  Alex.

Which means there’s more people trying to help and having to deal with a subpar user experience that can be easily addressed!

If removal is not easily possible it would help if you had your item(s) listed under the request (or an option to show it(them)) so you could easily see what grade it is and maybe your comments like “cut in half" or “corroded” etc. and if it would make sense to take a picture or measurements.

Please note:

Do not confuse the size of the image and the size of the object photographed
“Images are considered “too small” if they are less than 360 px × 360 px. »

► Image “too small”:

► Image NOT too small, the size of the photographed object is identical:

Enlarging a photo that is too small does not provide more detail and is of no interest.
This does not change the resolution, sharpness, or any shooting settings.
Everyone can zoom in if they want.
The point of having a bigger picture is to see more details.

Get closer to the subject so that it takes up all the space in the image, the photo will have more details as you do to read small print

Good point for people’s awareness. I do scan items at 600dpi minimum, So unless the coin is really small the resulting picture will be larger. Thanks.
