Kiribati

Almost half a century passed since beginning of own coinage on Kiribati. It is one of the smallest nation in the world. It started with regular coin set from small till the base denomination, the Dollar. This dollar became the cornerstone coin, representing the base (not many countries at all produce the base denomination in coins), the rare country and a boat - the goal of widely spread ship collections.

If we add big size to the very small mintage, we will realize why from the beginning it became the target for investors and there was just luck if a collector meet it on market.

Though the territory continued the coinage and modern items looks like post stamps by different topics and multiply picturesque design, it is the very first issue that is chosen by collectors as the most important.

As I can see for years the importance of the standard base issue attracts more and more collectors in the world.

Hi

Maybe add the link to the numista page when you discuss a coin, instead of just luring people to your delcampe shop … selling is still not allowed!

Nice coin though …

Just call me Bram

No new swaps for the moment, still too many half-ongoing swaps to clean up!

Dear Bram!
Thank you for improving this post by the link you wish, of course feel free to add any link you consider important. I do not have this coin and I wish to keep it  in hands again and again. From the point of view of the UN it is a real gem, that is why I agree with you.
