So, yeah, like the title says. πŸ˜…

I am currently out travelling, and since I'm downsizing my collection I thought I would bring β€œsome coins” to spend, since they've been dusting away in my swap list for a while now. So, aboit a week ago I released $2.50 in state quarters and America the Beautiful quarters into circulation on Sint Maarten. They were all in XF condition.

And yesterday … hahaa! I can barely say it out loud. πŸ˜…

We had so-so dinner here in Gustavia, St. Barths, and we payed almost the whole bill with coins. 🫣 I had brought 100 € in coins (yes, you read that right!) and the bill landed on 132 € (yes, it's really expensive here!) I looked at my wife and laughed β€œlet's do this!”. She started to feel a little bad and said that she couldn't. So we ended up paying 82 € in coins. I saw the staff looking at us from a distance, but I'm nlt sure they realised what we were doing. We payed with 50c, 1 €, and 2 € coins. πŸ˜„ They are in all in high condition, so it you need to get some high graded, nice euro coins, come to St. Barths! 😁

Check this out! πŸ˜…

In France they could have refused more than fifty pieces

Tomorrow:

β€œOh, hey, it's you! Get back here and collect your coins!”

Or they'll throw them at you.

In some countries the bill is only issued after payment was received. The payment has to be registered with the cashier before the cashier issues the official bill - the one they use for accounting. Perhaps they were waiting to see if you would make life easier to them?

Haha! We will be leaving the island tomorrow, so they will have to throw pretty far (even though you can see the other island we're going to). πŸ˜…

lol, I don’t think I could have done that. But I’m thinking why not have gone the whole nine yards. When you’re paying 82€, might as well just have done the whole 100€.

the last time I got rid of a lot of change was earlier this year with about 28AED mostly in 1 Dirham coins along with a few 50 and 25 fils. I spent it at a supermarket. The cashier was very cool about it and she even said she’s happy to have the change.

and i had spent about 12€ in a mix of 5c to 2€ in Portugal last April. Some of it went into those penny souvenir machines though.

else I was lucky to have been able to change about 16Β£ worth of the old 1 pound coins into bills from a bank back in 2021 when anyone could do walk-ins at the bank branch in UK

Anything is possible if one is angry enough.πŸ˜„

Most of the time I either spend my excess change at a ticket machine or at supermarket self service checkouts that accept more than one method of payment for the same transaction. For example I purchase Tesco meal deal last week and I paid all but 12p in coins, then the rest is by card. πŸ™‚

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

If you're visiting EU countries, you need to look carefully at which coins the Grocer's cashier gave you when you brought food there, but don't let anyone know that you're looking for a special coin.πŸ™‚ And don't forget to use this program to remove the background of the coin. πŸ˜‰

I'm not sure what you mean that the bill is issjed after payment is recieved. I must first get the bill to know how much I shall pay.

Yeah, I'm not sure they knew what we were doing, and would've loved to see their faces, lol! We felt a little bad for them as well. But just a little.

Last month I was on vacation in a country in Europe (where I normally go on vacation). In this country it is customary when you ask for the bill, you will first get a note with a calculation of whatever you have consumed and the total amount to pay. This note comes in some kind of container, often in a leather case. If I want to pay in cash, and I agree on the note, I place cash in the container to cover the amount indicated on the note. The waiter then takes the container with its content and goes to the cash register. After a while you will get back the container with the official bill from the cash register and in case needed, change.
