So happy to finally get my first British non-commemorative coins since King Charles III came to the throne on 8 September 2022.

They are the 2024 1 Penny, 2, 5, 10, & 20 Pence.

They are lovely designs.

As far as I know, 1 Penny and 2 Pence will not be related into circulation, only avaliable in mint sets.

Anyway, I ordered full set at the beginning of the year (and the 2023 even last year) and coins are really nice.

They are really nice designs, I got the 2023 BU set just to see them. I don't tend to go for the sets anymore but these seemed especially good.

The left ~third having the three interlocking “C” shapes (Charles Third), which itself is a callback to the double-locked “C”s of Charles II. (I know there's exceptions for CII maundy money).

Then a good mix of wildlife & plants from across the country making the bulk of the design. A good way to recognise Charles' love of the natural world. He's been speaking about the importance of the environment for decades so it's nice to have a personal touch for him.

A cool blend of historic artwork & the natural world.

I much prefer it over the shield puzzle of the 2008 redesign of the coinage. Not that it was a bad design per se, it's always a cool trivia fact to spring on people, but it just never quite felt right. Idk, can't describe it.

Hopefully, they'll all wind up circulating eventually. 🙂

King Charles II's Maundy coins have the denomination indicated by how many ‘C’s are on the coins.

The King Charles III coins remind me of the reverse of the King Charles II Maundy 3 Pence.

King Charles III's strong influence on the coin designs is very noticeable - & I love that.
