2023 $2 Year of the Rabbit Golden Hologram Rabbit Legal Tender Note

4 posts • viewed 50 times

I am seeing this note pop up on quite a few sites (eBay/JM Bullion/BGASC/etc.). However, I am not seeing any info on US Mint's site about it.

It is by Merrick Mint. I am not aware of this mint; if anyone has any information about this mint or its legitimacy, please share. I am also not aware of any legal tender banknotes not coming out of the US Mint.

IF it is legal tender, shouldn't the actual US mint have information about it? I searched the US Mint site but did not find any information on it.

Appreciate any information that anyone can share.

The Merrick Mint sell a lot of colorized notes…

“This uncirculated Bill is genuine Legal Tender of the United States which has been color enhanced by the Merrick Mint using a specialized advanced technology creating a collectible work of art.”

In simpler words, they have taken an already existing bill and ‘added color’ (or damaged it), to sell as collectable art.

Thanks for this.

So essentially “legal tender” is just saying that this is a REAL $2 bill, but there is no guarantee that a bank may/may not give me $2 for it if i tried to exchange it 🙂

Would you want to cash it in for a cost of $10.99? Even if you do, the bank teller may not accept it thinking that it could be a fake note.
