Unknown exonumia banknote, USA

Hello everyone,

can you help me with the identification of this banknote/paper exonumia. It's a 1 dollar banknote from Sears, Roebuck and Co. The reverse is completely blank. It measures about 152x70mm.

It's a cheque ….. money off voucher basically … 

Not sure if your UK based or not but its similar to our old style postal orders available at the Royal Mail Post Office.

Cheques these days have the sort code and account number on them plus name plus issuing bank blah blah blah likely as they became very prevalent everybody had them…. not so much these days though.  Can't remember the last time I wrote one myself!
