- Abbas El-Sheikh is an Egyptian artist and sculptor born in Sudan and raised in Cairo. He became the first Arab designer of Egyptian banknotes and played a significant role in the design of both metal and paper currencies after the revolution under the directive of President Gamal Abdel Nasser. El-Sheikh taught at the Faculty of Applied Arts at Helwan University and contributed to the design of numerous commemorative coins and medals. His artistic legacy remains influential despite his passing in 2005.
