Who would you vote

I would vote for lesser known Danes.  H.C. Andersen and Tycho Brahe are both well known and I think banknotes is also a medium for education.

1) I hope for Arnarulunnguaq (explorer and only woman on the 5th Thule expedidion) especaily, since she is Greenlandic and lesser bit still also because she is a woman. I would like more (non royal) women on our money (sorry Queen Magrethe II). I had never heard about Arnarulunnguaq before, so to have her on banknotes will maybe encourage people to look her up.

2) If we have to have an author, I'll say Tove Ditlevsen or Benny Andersen, not H.C. Andersen, who already featured on the older 10 kroner note.

3) To celebrate Danish design, I think designer Arne Jacobsen could be a good person to put on

4) Something with science, since we will like to show we are a country of science and education. So Marie Krogh (diabetic resercher) or Inge Lehmann (about the Earth's core)

Funny enough I just talked about this with a collegue and we came to a conclusion with it could be:

Danish monarchs: Monarchs who have had an impact on Danish history, like Harald Bluetooth, Christian IV, Magrethe I and Margrethe II

OR

The Danish Realm: 3 of the four banknotes could represent the 3 consituent countries of the Kingdom, Denmark, Greenland and Faroe Islands, with the 500 being Greenland, 200 Denmark and Faroe Islands for the 100, so their geographic size correlate to banknote's size and value.

Reverse theme:

I forgot to add the reverse will also have a theme, not necceraily connected to the person on the front.

Depending on how they do this, I'll probably vote for the ccean or flowers… More leaning towards to flowers than the ocean.

What are other peoples thought? Your opinion @Amraan Amjad ?

This being Denmark and the 2020s, it is already certain that Arnarulunnguaq will be featured on one of the four new banknotes. She ticks two important boxes (woman, Greenland). So, there is one more place for another woman and for the remaining two positions two men. But I wouldn't be surprised if there are three woman and just one man at the end.

Reverse:

Ocean has been done by Denmarks northern neighbour (Norway). So, not an ideal choice even though I'd like it.

Everyday life: Just no.

Flowers: Good idea. So good, that it is also in the running for the new Euro banknotes.  😀

By the way, is there any news what is going to happen to the Faroe Islands' 1000 Krónur banknote?

I haven't heard anything, but since Faroes Banknotes aren't valid in Denmark, I don't think it's a big concern for the Danish National Bank..? 🤔 I have considered writting to the Faroese selfrule goverment for clearification, but not sure who or where I should writte to? 😅

And for the reverse themes: If the Euro banknotes use flowers, I hope it will not just be a copy cat design… Like the fear is, if they choose "hands" as the next Euro theme, since that's the current Swizz theme on their banknotes.

They are actually valid in Denmark at par, but nobody knows about this (anymore).

I have once paid with a Faroese bank note in Denmark, but it was in the 1990's, a completely different World.

hellooo
sorry, I was out of town so couldn't reply

I would too choose Arnarulunnguaq, indigenous people should be represented in banknotes

for authors, I don't have much idea but would love to look into it further

I just adore the egg chair of Arne Jacobsen, so sassy and classy at the same time

Inge Lehmann is actually one of my role models lol

I absolutely loved this idea of The Danish Realm

for reverse, Blomster or havet is good

I would choose Havet because Scandinavian salmon is out of this world

I have high hopes from Denmark after Norway destroyed its banknotes

What don't you like about the current banknote series of Norway?

The obverse (I like it), the reverse (not a fan), or both?

Thanks for the update. Let's hope they'll answer quickly.

They did anwear me a couple of houres, @redlock !

They say as follow:

"Tak for dit spørgsmål.

Det korte svar er, at det ikke er planen at den færøske 1000 kr. seddel bliver ugyldig.

Hvis den plan ændrer sig så melder vi ud i god tid, ligesom der er blevet gjort i Danmark."

Which means, by my translation:

“Thank you for your question

The short answear is there is no plan for the Faroese 1000 krónur note to be demonitaised

If that plan changes we will announce it well in advance, like it was done in Denmark”

So if someone want to white wash… I mean hold on to large values of banknotes still legal tender for some reason, do it in Faroese Krónur then 😉😁😂

I don't really know Danish Personalities well - but is Benny Andersen the goateed guy in Abba? I thought he was Swedish?

Otherwise Arne Jacobsen would be a good idea, his designs are known all over the world and he is world famous in Denmark.

What about the guy who invented Lego, Ole Kirk Kristiansen I think, or his son - who grew the brand worldwide.

Also Karen Blixxen, she is known outside Denmark too for “Out of Africa”. Is there a rule, that people on notes before can not go on again.

New Zealand, we redesigned our notes in 1992 and have 4 personalities and 1 of the Queen of England (Notes with the King have not come out yet), but apart from minor design changes, these people have remained on our notes, we have one sportsman, a feminist, a indigenous person and a famous scientist, so all boxes are ticked there.

Or the new King of Denmark, or is showing royals considered not woke enough in the 2020s. No doubt the indigenous woman someone mentioned will go on as the libs will have a field day if they don't. It better be a middle value note too, because if its the cheapest note, libs will complain, she is not valued enough and if its the top note - they will complain that she is not seen by enough people and thus made invisble by the man!

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Two different people:

The poet & author: https://da.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Andersen

The guy from Abba: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benny_Andersson

Easy to confuse because it's like looking for John Smith in English.

Cool thanks Ralf.

Hope you are well.

News from TV2 News and the National Bank of Denmark this morning:

We have now got the theme and faces of the new banknotes coming out in 2028:

The theme is going to be “havet”/“the sea". Since it binds us together both in Greenland and Denmark, and across the two countries. Ww are both very much dependent on the ocean thruge time and trade.

The people going on our banknotes are going to be

Fairy tales and Hans Christian Andersen

Astronomy and Tycho Brahe

The Earth's core and Inge Lehmann

…and the new Danish banknotes will be designed by: Crane Currency Malta LTD

Four companies made offers for the tender. Crane won.

The contract has an estimated value of 800.000 (eight hundred thousand) Euros and a duration of 24 months.
