Hi friends

Kyrgyzstan launched this new family on the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the national currency, SOM, but nothing in it indicates that it is an issue commemorating this date. It seems like they are just taking use of the date to launch the new design

If there is evidence that it would be a “commemorative issue”, i think it would be good to post it, otherwise it would be better to catalog the family as a "common circulation issue" and in the series field, put “30 years of Som Family”

Best regards

At the bottom of my post (Footnote) there is a link from the Central Bank confirming these commemorative.

I agree with this. Unless a series is obviously a one-off design or makes it clear on the note that it is commemorating something, it should be considered a regular issue.

A good example is the newest Jamaica series. It has the logo for the 60th anniversary of independence, so it is correct to call these commemoratives. Presumably, later issues won't feature this logo.

Exactly. The evidence presented indicates that it was in fact on the same date as the 30th anniversary but it is a regular series that will be printed for an indefinite period of time. I did not change the indication to regular issue on the website in respect of the previous post until we reached a consensus.
