Hello, I have this 1841 Russian marriage medal Apr. 16, 1841.
It weighs 29.12 Grams which is way over weight of 20.73 grams. Russia was experimenting with platinum coins around this time. The size is correct of 35.5 mm. An all platinum medal would weight about 40-41 grams. Could this be part silver and part platinum mix? It is a little thick but I dont think that it is thick enough to use an extra nine grams.
How have determined the exact volume so that you can say it's so and so much over or under weight? Especially high relive objects are non trivial or have you done a fluid measure?
With non-trivial I mean it's not easy to calculate because of the topography and with fluid measure I mean a process of dunking you complex object into a fluid like on the Archimedes' principle. I didn't know you got this value from a catalog page, one reason why when talking about specific objects you should always provide said catalog page. N#96842
With your actual question I can't help unfortunately, could be like you said or just a slightly thicker variety. They are not coins so there is not really a set weight.
Or yours is a copy. With only 868 minted I doubt the weight could vary that much and I highly doubt the mint was messing around with platinum in the composition.

Yours seems to be missing some letters:
I checked all the ones sold on Heritage - Some of them have those letters and some of them don't. I am pretty sure that this medal is genuine.
My concern is the weight. What could be more heavy then silver to make these heavyer other then platinum? The person that I am ID'ing these for will send it to PCGS or NGC for authentification. Some have reeded edges, some have lettered edges and some have plain edges.

OK. What were the weights of all the ones sold on Heritage?

Some of them used 20.73G most likely from this website. I think they are all in slabs, so they just found a number and put it in the listings. Some of them don't have the weight listed in the listing.
Number of those with heavier weight are correctly called restrikes/collectors copies as i mentioned which makes sense to have been made with such a small original mintage
