But as separate issuing entity, as how Hejaz is? and Nejd by itself

I could be stupid but it seems to make sense

I'm with you on this one, Hejaz & Nejd should have a separate issuer than Saudi Arabia, which didn't exist until 1932.

Matteo

Also maybe something about Mecca or adding these to the Sharifate of Mecca?

Because I am confused

Yes, I agree with that one too.

Matteo

I also agree that the two periods should be differentiated, since it is now possible to do so and there is a very significant name change. Maybe you could do something similar to this:

Saudi Arabia

    Bani Khalid Emirate
    Hejaz, Kingdom of
    Mecca, Sharifate of
    Saudi Arabia

        Hejaz and Nejd (1926-1932)

        Saudi Arabia (1932-date)

I propose this distribution since Hejaz & Nejd corresponds (I believe) to the same area occupied by Saudi Arabia, there is only a name change. With the Mecca coins, I'm not sure. Maybe they should integrate into the Kingdom of Hijaz.

Maybe this is not a request for issuing entities but for catalog countries 😉

Hello,

I divided Saudi Arabia into 2 periods:

I'm not sure about the 3 Mecca coins
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces63090.html ;

N#36519

N#63089

The SCWC categorizes them with “Kingdom of Hejaz and Sultanate of Nejd”, “transitional coinage”, with the indication “Struck at the Mecca Mint during the occupation by Abd Al-Aziz Bin Sa’ud while establishing his kingdom.”

So I moved them under the period Hejaz and Nejd (1926-1932).

Thank you very much Xavier, I believe that you have placed the 3 coins from the Mecca mint in their proper place based on what is discussed in the SCWC.

Thanks Xavier

I am not that active in forums now but thanks for pinging me here

My two cents would be - ask any Saudi here, they will tell you that when King Abdulaziz (rh) started his campaign, he started it with a clear agenda - to unite the Arabian Peninsula with the holy cities of Makkah and Medina and the area of Nejd

In 1932, he formally declared them as Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

Although, this doesn't change much

I appreciate everyone's interest in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia 😀

Peace ☮️
