Is: 1861

Should be: 1864

Can we say for sure it should be 1864 instead of 1863? Since the Hijri year 1277 began in 1860 and ended in 1861, it could be either?

No but the 5, 10 and 40 para of the same series say 1864 so I figured this one should be the same.

I don't mean to be annoying or derail the particular fix, but it'd be a good idea to standardize this across the site.  Perhaps include both dates for coins that don't put the Gregorian year as well?

Some 1277's with Regnal Year 4 are listed as 1863, some are 1864

You're not annoying and I agree. There are 4 coins in this series, all 1277 year 4. Three say 1864 and one 1861.  I don't care if either 1864 or 1863 or 1863-1864 is used as long as they're the same.

I've also seen it done this way:

But this problem is that results with this:

Interesting problem, with quite far reaching consequences.

Just to fully clarify.

1277/1861 is frozen date, and exact date is determined by regnal year, right?

What I could do, is to show 1277/1864 for this yearline. But that would be weird really, even though it would work in the search.

Or we could add a new calendar (for each ruler that used this system), in which case year would show as “4”. Which would show gregorian year of 1864. In this case, hijri date would not be shown, which is probably wanted.

Should be done the same as the 5, 10 and 40 Para for the same series is done to be consistent.  These 4 coins were minted in AD 1864 (maybe 1863).

Not sure that is the best way but often done that way although often done other ways.

In a way it's similar to Spain coins with the date of first minting and the “regnal” date in the star.

This type of dating is done extensively. It's hard for me to believe that we don't know how to do it properly.  I thought this was an easy and obvious request to fix one coin to match the other 3 denomination of the same series.

Ok, I just fixed it. The system is lacking option how to show 1277/1861 frozen date, regnal year and finally the actual date.
