Help in Identifying Interesting 8-pointed star token

Found this among some coins but no idea what it is. Seems to be some sort of token.

Both sides are identical. 

Text : KRN repeated several times around it

An 8-pointed star in the center and some circles between each point of the star.

2.6 cm/ 1 inch diameter.

That is indeed possible! I did find a couple of Japanese coins amongst all the pile of coins where this was.
