This annoying new feature has appeared for a few months now and really off putting and draining.

I keep getting notifications saying there has been a new reply in a thread I have written something in. Yet it also says you can turn these notifications off in the settings tab.

NO I CAN"T

Is this a “Premium” only feature (Sorry I have better things to waste money on than pay to be on a free internet site)

Also when I do click the bell, to not get these messages only - a couple of days later, the notifications turned off are back.

Really, really really annoying.

It is a feature that serves NO Purpose but to annoy me.

What Einstein designed and implemented it. Please just get rid off it. By looking at the lists of topics and the “Topics I have posted in page” I don't need to know which threads have new replies - especially when it may be some zombie thread revived from 10 years ago.

My suggestion is get rid of this stupid notification feature, its un necessary and serves no purpose.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Notifications are useful, at least for me!

Now you can disable notifications in a topic, but not disable all notifications in your account settings.

Some suggestions related:

I love the notifications, very useful to track the threads I am interacting with.

I would also like to congratulate the Numista staff for working for free in the best coin catalog of the world.

Just click on the bell so it becomes a bell-icon with a slash whenever a thread pops up that you aren't interested in and whenever you post in a new thread where you intend to no longer want to participate in. The notifications will gradually fade away.

Other way around.  Click this       to stop getting notifications and this       to get notifications.   The icons represent what you want not what you have.

Nope this was changed the other way around a week ago or so.

Not where I am:

Sorry you are right I miss read your post, it look strange on my phone.

Hello,

An option to disable the forum notifications is already discussed here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic139548.html

Where oh where in Settings is the option to disable or even better remove notifications?

Giving a link to another topic is no help - just write here what to do, with an example.

Why was it introduced in the first place - without thinking of those who do NOT want it?

There is currently no option to disable it. Only the emails can be deactivated.

I linked to the other thread, as we usually keep only one thread per change request.

There should be more interaction with us before you guys run off and make unpopular and annoying changes.

This is arrogance from the top aimed at the bottom, fortunately Zac agrees with us commoners.

I'm sorry you feel it is an annoying feature. But to alert referees or users to particular posts to topics is very useful as not everyone looks at the forums everyday or sees every post. It defeats the point of the feature if people are allowed to disable it.

I like and use this function, but I do not agree with this:

peterjhalfordIt defeats the point of the feature if people are allowed to disable it.

The reply notification is activated when I publish a reply or I create a new topic. I want use notifications but I do not want that the reply notification be activated always in all topics where I publish.

If the possibility to disable of “reply notification by default” is created, I will disable it, but I will still use the reply notification in topics that interest me.

Just because I turn off the reply notification by default, does not mean that moderators and other users can not use it.

Same for private messages (it is done) and mentions.

NOTE: It is best to discuss here: https://en.numista.com/forum/topic139548.html
