The images in N#392755 are in AVIF format, not JPEG. I think that format is not accepted by the form to add coins, but somehow they have gotten into the catalog.

They are AVIF. They get into Numista coin pages the same way .png files get there by manually deleting the .avif extension and replacing with .jpg. Doesn't change the format but does fool Numista.
This image is not a malfunction of Numista, but allowing images with a jpg extension to be uploaded and not checking their mime type (it must be image/jpeg) is bug of the program.
I assume this is the problem, that the mime type is not checked (or was not checked when that images were uploaded). @Xavier or @dzmitry.huletski know more about this.
