Hello All,
can anyone identify the artist signature on this medal? I would greatly appreciate it
Have a nice day fellow collector across the big pond.
You know, I think it's not even the name of the medalist who created the medallion as a work of art.
Rather, it is a sacred place where it is sold to register who the locket is intended for, many disabled people make the journey to Lourdes and seek salvation and healing and ask Saint Bernadette ( Thanks to her visions, Lourdes became one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the world. Bernadette was beatified in 1925, and declared a saint eight years later.)to convey their wishes to the Virgin Mary who appeared to her there.
The seller engraves or cuts out the wish or name for whom it is intended on the spot.
However, French collectors should confirm this theory of mine - after all, it is their sandbox-i could be wrong, there are a large number of different designs of these lockets.
