Hello friends,

I would suggest the creation of the Kongu Chera Dynasty as part of the Hindu Dynasties.

Kongu Chera History:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kongu_Chera_dynasty

Kongu Chera coinage:

Kongu Chera on Zeno:

Kongu Chera in numismatic stores:

We already have 3 coins to populate the entry:

N#65531

N#72056

N#49215

Thank you for the opportunity of the request.

Geison

And to avoid confusion, I guess this coin below

N#215525

Should be of the issuer “Chera Kingdom”,  so would need to be renamed.

Thank you.

It looks like Kongu Chera  was not part of the Vijayanara Empire, so should be a new issuer as you say.  But let's see if there is any additional opinion.

I am seeing date range listed as “9th - 12th century,” or sometimes more  specific  967-1263 https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=4770589.

I am seeing most of the coins listed as copper Kasu of 1.2 grams, but there are also some larger coppers.  If you have any ideas on the currency system, this would also be helpful.

Most of the time coins are called “unit” or “kasu”, must be unclear like so many coins from that period.

Example (Kasu):

https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=3555147

Example (Unit):

Yes, I am mostly seeing kasu referring to coins of about 1.2 grams, and “unit” for larger coins (3.2-5.2 gr.).  Maybe this term is used because the currency system is unknown? Or because it changed at some point in time?

It will be created as an issuer for now.  If for some reason later we see it works better as a ruling authority, we can change it.

If the member who downvoted has input, that's always helpful.

This is now in place.  Currency is the jital, to match the currency of Vijayanara Empire.
