Why is Myanmar not split into Burma and Myanmar?

Again one of those useless questions, right, in 1989 there is a clear split:

And again why do you open a ticket and then just ask a question?

Either open a ticket with a concrete proposal or leave the boxes unticket and ask your questions.

Sorry but there isn't a clear split in 1989. If you look at the name in the local language, it's nearly always given as Myanmar (မြန်မာ), with the only exceptions being the notes of the Japanese puppet state. The fact is that the two names co-exist and are used in different forms of speech. The British latched on to the form Burma (ဗမာ) and this form was used until 1989 by the independent state as the English name. The only issues that don't use Myanmar are those puppet notes and the overprinted notes from the Reserve Bank of India. Otherwise, Myanmar always appears, either in the local language or both. I wonder whether we should display the dual names more clearly to aid accessibility?

Definitely should be split - as Myanmar's first coins are dated 1991.

This coin from 1952 has Myanmar (မြန်မာ) on it, not Burma (ဗမာ). Sadly, the translation we currently have is wrong.

Because I have no proposal, just a valid question according to the reactions.
