Do you mean this First Republic (1958-1975)?

That's a coin from Malagasy, yes

From wikipedia (Madagascar) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madagascar

First Republic (1960–72)

Second Republic  (1975 to 1993)

Third Republic (1992–2010), strange!

In 2010, a new constitution was adopted by referendum, establishing a Fourth Republic

From wikipedia (Malagsy) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malagasy_Republic

Malagasy republic from 1958-1975

Madagascar republic from 1975-now

According to both Archontology and World Statesmen, the terms Malagasy and Madagascar were used alongside each other between 1975 and 1992, the first in the Malagasy language, the second in English and French. The Wikipedia article implies that Madagascar is the noun and Malagasy the adjective. This isn't the easiest to resolve.
