Because they pay German workers German wages (you could hire more than 5 people in India for each worker in Germany for the same wage [median without taxes]), in addition to the use of certain materials that might cost more + branding.

That is most likely what they would like us to think. I suspect their workers are merely assembling pre-fabrications from low wage countries. Same thing goes for companies like Volkswagen, where most of the parts are made in China and Eastern Europe and then assembled in Germany. Some of the Leuchtturm products has a lower standard of quality than in the good old 1970s and 1980s.
I have not weight the points but it doesn't change the fact that people are paid in Germany, the US and elsewhere even if they are just in logistics and management (taking as much if not more then all of the other workers combined in payroll). I believe the production is in Czechia, Hungary and albums mostly in China and the leather comes from Tunisia.

Don't forget, Lighthouse has a customer service, where you can complain and get answers….. I don't buy anything else than Leuchtturm (the same as Lighthouse, but in German)!

Until now no need to complain. My only reservation is that the finish of the products sometimes are not exactly up to scratch, but then again, I have never purchased Leuchtturm products directly from Leuchtturm, but from other German companies dealing in collector's supplies, such as for example Goldhahn. They used to have much cheaper prices on Leuchtturm than the official prices at Leuchtturm, but yesterday, when checking out their website, their prices seems to be higher than previously. I've only got Leuchtturm albums for my collection. For stock cards, packaging and storage equipment I usually buy Kobra or Lindner products, depending on prices.
I have more than 100 binders from Leuchtturm, some bought directly from the German headquarters, some from the French subsidiary, some from Amazon and some from a small coin shop in Paris.
Anyway, I have always been happy with their products, and only had to use their customer services once, since they had delivered the binders in a wrong color (imagine!). I kept them and got a reduction on my next order, since the color is of no real importance!
The Leuchtturm pages I now buy from Amazon, fast and secure delivery.
Amazon is most likely excellent when living in the Eurozone, but here they are actually expensive. I just checked one of the albums that I usually buy and Amazon want €8 more than what I have to pay in Germany. I travel to Germany at least a couple of times a year to get the things that are much less expensive there.
Your Brexit didn't make it cheaper, did it?

Du er nu morsom, gamle dreng. Kig mod nord, min ven! 😉
To find the North star? I prefer the Euro star, straight into the middle of London.
