Please message referee about this: https://en.numista.com/echanges/profil.php?id=75584 As he is the one who created that graphic you mentioned, he should have some insight on this.

He can then amend the page.

hi Jarcek

I'd messaged him quite some time back, in fact I'd shared image with him & he confirmed

but he hasn't added the line so I thought he might not be very active presently thus the request in the forum

Then, what should be added in comment field of this new line?

Catalogue administrator

i'm not an expert Jarcek but logically -

1969 ♦ - Mumbai Mint; KM 42.4, Thin Rim, (obverse legend 1.2 mm to rim), Lion with recut hair

i don't know if all that can be accomodated, but these are the salient features of this variant

Dear Friends,

Sorry for the late reply.

I will share the images of the varieties here and then we will discuss this. My old pictures are not clear and I will take a new photo and share it here, it will take one or two days.

Thank you.

Ponpandi Perumal

sure, thanks

Dear Amit and Jarcek,

This one is the First variety. There is no recut on the Lion's chest area. Very sharp details on both the obverse and reverse sides. Obverse legends are 2.5 mm from the rims. As per me, this is the early strike coin or used in UNC Sets coins (I will check with the UNC sets and confirm later).

This variety is the rare one.

This one is the Second variety. There is a partial recut on the centre portion of the Lion's chest area. Very sharp legends and details on the obverse side only. Obverse legends are 2 mm from the rims.

This variety is the Scarce one.

This one is the Third variety. There is a full recut on the left to right end portion of the Lion's chest area. Thin and weak legends and details on both the obverse and reverse sides. Obverse legends are 1.00 mm from the rims.

This variety is very common.

This one is the Fourth variety. There is a full recut on the left to right end portion of the Lion's chest area, but the recut is entirely different from the third variety. Thin and weak legends and details on both the obverse and reverse sides. Obverse legends are 0.80 mm from the rims.

This variety is also very common.

For the comparison, all 4 obverse are in one picture.

I can't understand the Krause classification on this issue.

Yes, there are some other small die varieties also available.

Finally,

In my point of view, we don't need to add more year lines on the catalogue page. Professional collectors can easily understand the differences and normal collectors can't understand the differences. I will add these pictures and details to the coin page's comment section.

Anyone can add their different collection with their public or private comments as multiples.

Jarcek, the final decision is yours. If you wish to add a separate line, I will do so.

I will share the Hyderabad mint varieties in the next comment, Later.

Thanks and regards,

Ponpandi Perumal.

thanks Ponpandi for the details, a bit of confusion, if you can help

i presume by “First variety” you mean KM#42.1 & so on

with reference to the distance between Obverse Legend & Rim, there seems to be a difference between your “variety wise” description here as compared to on the catalog page

42.1 on the catalog page it's mentioned as - Mumbai Mint; KM#42.1 (0.7-0.9 mm to rim) against 2.5 mm here

42.2 Mumbai Mint; KM#42.2 (1.2 mm to rim) against 2mm here

42.3 Mumbai Mint; KM#42.3 (Eyes & mustache redesigned; 1.2mm to rim) against 1.00 mm here

kindly guide

Dear Amit ji,

I clearly mentioned in the previous post that the Krause details are not clear and can't be accepted by me.

And don't compare my old post details and images. In the above comment, there is no confusion.

I never mentioned, that the “First variety” is KM#42.1.

Regards,

Ponpandi Perumal.

Ponpandi Perumal

ok Ponpandi, thanks for clearing my confusion

will recheck my coins accordingly

thanks a lot
