It seems to me that for a coin minted in those numbers for that long wouldn't have such high values.. just wondering if anyone has any insight on this? N#15888

Its pretty well described here https://www.muenzen-online.com/post/der-eichbaum-besonderheiten-einer-weimarer-kursmünze#:~:text=Ab%201927%20ausgegeben%2C%20zeigte%20sich,wieder%20an%20die%20Reichsbank%20zurück.

while now it is seen as one of the prettiest most sought after designs, in the 1920s and 30s it was not.

one reason was its large size which workers did not like and the other simply the design.

as a result the coins where often returned to the banks for exchange with smaller denomination coins.

Coins such as the later designs with Hindenburg or witht he Garrisons Church ended much more popular and where seen very often in circulation.

I made a change request on the engraver of the eagle side of this coin as that is not by Dasio.

Now its the opposite, its highly sought after and unfortunately plenty have been melted down during WW2 or already before that.

Wow, thank you for the information. It makes sense I suppose, it seems like around that time crown sized coins became disliked, at least in terms of circulating currency..
