I feel I am detecting AI chatbots in the most recent crop of newbs. shout me down, please, if I am wrong.

Don't know if AI but we had many waves of context sensitive bot posts in the past, from new and sleeper accounts.

I ‘feel’ the same way Idolenz.

My foil cap vibrated a couple times last week.

What could be the reason for a bot to open an account here?

What could possibly be gained?

Musk is planning on charging a minimum amount on X to help eliminate bot accounts!

Usually they are there to incorporate links to scam and illicit web sites and fly under the radar. Others just brute force spam all fora with 'Here our cheap counterfeit money, identity cards and boner pills etc..

I have this old fashioned hunch that many of the new posters are kids with nothing better to do than practise their IT-skills.

I do not know all the details, but Numista has great protection against bots in general and recetly got upgraded in that regard. It is even stronger against spam bots.
