Take the Survey

Done.

I would like to see historical events and historical people on the coins, like the civil war and Lincoln or Grant.

Enough with the dead presidents on coins. The mint already produces commemoratives with historical events.

I would like to see a series of native flower and animal coins, similar to what other nations do on their coinage, which are some of the most beautiful designs out there. We have enough wildlife to produce a series with eye appeal.

Also, I would love if it if the mint would stop producing pennies and nickels, and go with the dime, quarter, half-dollar, dollar, $2 and $5 coins and introduce a bi- or tri-metallic coin.

Almost every comment I see on this site is how boring and ugly U.S. coins are, so why not shake things up a bit, and while we're at it, make coins that are pieces of art again, not pieces of trash.

While I admire your enthusiasm, your ideas are great.
However reading the actual announcement they're looking for design of standard circulating coins for the year 2026 only.
Take inspiration from the 1976 coins and how they changed the designs up just for that year, that's what they're looking for.

Thanks Flying, I got off topic a little (haha).

Went through the survey last evening; ticked off not interested to any reference to lady Liberty and presidents. Some themes were certainly more interesting than others

There was this bit here:
"Depictions of Liberty

…More recently, the Mint has produced coins depicting the concept of Liberty through the use other symbols, such as the American mustang or our indigenous Bristlecone pine tree."

That kind of feels exactly like what you'd like to see, doesn't it?

That would literally be the worst theme ever in my opinion 😂😅!

Great Response, I agree - American coins are dull as dishwater and tired. The Lincoln penny goes back 114 years! The Jefferson nickel is 85 years old, Rosie is 77 years old and Quarter is 92 years old, yes we have had some slight modernising of portraits, but they are tired. Notes more tired - pretty much apart from bright colours added in 2000s, the designs are from 1914 and 1928. I mean the car in front of the Treasury on the $10 is like some Grandma duck thing like 1920.

The fact the $1 coin has never worked and their top coin is 25c - basically worthless says it all. They could show some of your ideas on circulation pieces up to $5. But I know what they will get, some exclusive gold and silver coins sold at 3x their metal value and face values like 50c and $1 for silver and $5 for the gold.

And at least call it 250th anniversary - even I a man in Mensa did not know what a semiquincentenary was (half of a 500 year anniversary).

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

some design options for the obverse of the penny and nickel

like the bicentennial not much different from normal, hopefully the reverses look good. at least all of the coins will get a commemorative design this time.

Maybe the USA should take a leaf (pardon the pun) out of the Royal Mint's book after the introduction of new ‘Nature’ themed coin designs in the UK after the Coronation of King Charles III.   It is refreshing to see that our new coinage will reflect the King's passion for nature and conservation, whilst still maintaining a sense of national pride with the symbols used.

While it would be nice to have a series like that, remember it's a run for a single year (like the 1776-1976 series of coins)

Shouldn't be too difficult to make interesting nature designs for the coins though, although would mean another quarter with another eagle which would be quite boring tbh

CCAC met again, here are the potential 2026 designs for the

dime

quarter

half dollar

some of the designs look good but most of these seem too busy for a coin

I agree, I thinkthe dime and quarters have way too much detail to translate onto a coin neatly. Some of the designs are a bit too computer Generated designs that lack a certain finesse. I felt some of the half dollar designs had a lot of promise though

US coins/series that will never be:

- Native American Dollar: US Cavalry charging into a Native American Camp

- African Countries: Home of American Slaves

- Anniversary of Lincoln's shooting

- Civil War: Heroes of the South

- 100th Anniversary of the Great Depression

- 150th Anniversary of the Introduction of Income Tax

- 80th Anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

- American Wars series – enough to last a few years, if not longer

- US Military Bases around the World – this series could last for decades

- Rule-based World Order: The Rules

That would not be so smart in the USA, on average monarchs change every 20 or more years (Lizzie was a GLITTERING exception) and given the personal tastes of the man likely to win, we would have coins showing following.

Penny - Showing a Mexican in a stereotypical outfit with a line through it

Nickel - Showing Alcohol and McDonalds

Dime - Showing a sexy woman model with her fingers to her lips and money wad next to it

Quarter - Showing Trump's hand reaching towards model's nether regions

Halve - Showing Mar a Lago with boxes marked “Top secret” around it.

Dollar - Showing a bullet bouncing off an ear (Too soon?)

Or if the “other” guy wins

Penny - Showing some Geritol pills

Nickel - Showing a walking frame

Dime - Showing a miracle ear hearing aid

Quarter - Shows varicose vains in legs

Halve - Shows depends or Guardian diapers for adults

Dollar - Shows a Dialysis or other machine that old people are hooked up to.

🤣

I guess the Americans would be better off without the political circus of electing a president.

I've never lived in the US but I guess that if it matters to you, elections are constantly being a topic somewhere in the media. Always someone who wants your vote.

I would like a revisit of some of the old designs. For the 1 cent flying eagle or Indain.5 cents V nickel or Buffalo. And so on. Kind alike pick your design you like. Out of all the design ever made by the US.

It is, what it is, or is it.

Just think, we came but a few millimeters from the possible issue of an updated version of the Kennedy Half Dollars.
