Hi everyone,  I'm new here. I have some questions on how this all works. I may be too busy for such a system, I work and travel a lot. But occasionally get home for weeks at a time. This would be neat if I could fill that time. I have OCD and while I'm not working, seem I go a bit crazy with nothing to do.

How do you all fit this time in?

Are people patient during trades?

How do you trust folks with exchanges, who sends first?

I've read a lot of profiles and messages in forums, kind of getting the hang of this. However, I've noticed in 2 weeks that people do not read your own profile? is this common?

I clearly have USA only! But I'm getting request from All sorts of countries and also USA request with nothing to offer me? maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Does everybody have to trade or can you just keep you collection on here?, how do I not trade? or turn off profile? It might take me a while before I actually trade.

Sorry for all the questions and concerns.

I recently bought a house from a near relative. There was a stack of coins in the corner covered up, and I negotiated the entire lot during the closing. I was intrigued and never seen such coins, didn't even know some of these countries exist, LOL.  Numista is perfect for me, as I have found most of the coins. This was extreme fun, and I almost got in a trance entering coins until 2am? is that normal among numismatics?, Im sure I spelled that wrong. The coins were all marked with grade, date and km, was really fun entering them. I have more but darn, it takes time. I'm learning grading from the examples. I thought it was a huge lot (maybe 1,500), but some of you have 40,000 coins, how????

Thanks for any answers..

- Most of the Better World High Dollar coins are only viewable in my collections within profile. I doubt I trade these easy.

Welcome to numista.

Here is how not to bothered by swapping requests. Go to “Settings” and the search for this:

Most people are patient during trades, since we all depend on the time to pick and pack the coins and then we always have the postage time!

I spend as much 8 hours a day on the hobby, and it's still fun.

If any specific questions, just ask them.

You only want silver eagles? That’s it? So you’re not a coin collector, are you a silver stacker?
It’s fine if you are, I like silver bullion myself. It’s just
Most members here don’t have a lot of silver eagles laying around that they want to swap.
perhaps you should just sell your entire collection and just buy some silver eagles?
Another option might be to put a good lot together that is a bit more valuable than a silver eagle and then post it on the coin swap page asking if anyone wants to swap for an eagle.

Taking a break from swapping for a while, but still interested in pre 1799 Spanish coins, I will make time for that!

I just looked at your list, you have some valuable coins. Did you inherit these coins or just decide to stop collecting and trade it all for bullion?

My guess is than she recently bought a house from a near relative and there was a stack of coins in the corner covered up, and she negotiated the entire lot during the closing.  😉

Hello, Rsirian1 got it exactly right. My uncle has always given me eagles since I was born. SO I naturally was interested some, he would give me other odd coins over the years, come to find out, they were scarce. I did not really know. So when I bought the house, this big coin cabinet got negotiated as I was really interested. I paid a lot for it, so as I thought, but I wasn't sure what I even had, so this site has been beneficial to help me even get a close $ amount the collection is worth, I may indeed sell all of them to a coin shop, but I feared I might get ripped off, since I don't know crap about these type of coins. But I'm learning. Plus I also thought, who would like them better, a car salesman coin dealer, or folks who love them.

So, as I thought, I'd get interested in some coins as I went thru them, and I did. Im only half way thru putting this collection in. Ive used Numista values and if the front page is right, I got a great deal!!! but Most are common coins, however all are VF or better. mostly. Im not even putting in some of them, like Mexico 77 peso's. etc.

I've added some coins to my wish list, and I holes to fill, to complete a KM.

My taste are amateur right now, I'm sure they will change again. All new and fun to me right now.

Pictures are hard for me right now, but I tried. also, looks like I need to get some packing supplies and a at home USPS program of sorts, to mail from abroad, I have  an Apartment in Atlanta, I fly a lot.

I have all sorts of skills, non useful here, medical field, but wow all of this is so technical, I never knew how detailed this was. Shew, I'll never catch up.

I'm programming a xls sheet to interface with the downloaded xls provided from numista. I write a lot of Visual Basic stuff, mostly for medical systems, but I can use this here for sure. I can make complex custom “stand up and bark” sheets, if anyone needs something specific written. It can be anything, expenses, collections, etc.
