Could someone explain the varieties?

For example in ND 1970 - 1975, the signatures are xxx and Manager, and second version still ND 1970-1975 is Manager in Hong Kong

Only the dated 1975 Jun 1 version is Chief Manager in Hong Kong. The picture in the page alone has Chief Manager in Hong Kong but is not dated. Contradicting statements, lol.

Thanks for taking the time. N#211309

I believe these are just varieties. There should be four prints. The first there were all printed with no date, but with different titles and signatures. The fourth one was printed with the date.

I believe at Numista, it has only mentioned the three varieties.

I still do not quite understand, my apologies, but for example: Numista has either didnt wrote in the forth variety which must be ND and with Chief Manager in Hong Kong, which the Krause catalogue doesnt have, if i recall correctly, or the whole thing is wrong.

Try this site

Prints

1) First print, ND. Titles Accountant & Manger

2) ND, Titles Accountant & Chief Manager

3) ND, Titles same as 2 but with new Accountant signature

4) Dated 01.06.1976

I have item 2 in F/EF condition. I like this kind of note. Just look at the reverse and compare it to today's HK. The landscapes have changed so much.

There are several errors in this numista listing:
1. The first line is not a correct description of P73b. the titles “Accountant" & "Manager in Hong Kong” is not listed in scwpm for p73.
2. The second line should be p73a, not p75a (which is a $50), otherwise it is correct. [I sent a change request for this]
3. Specimen - scwpm lists a specimen for p73b

p73a is ‘Accountant’ & ‘Manager’ [ND, 1970-1975]
p63b is ‘Accountant’ & ‘Chief Manager in Hong Hong’ [Date 1.6.75]

My reference fo this is scwpm 23rd Ed., p.491

Where can I find which signature was which on HK banknotes, catalogues don't show, I'm using Krause btw… Thanks!

You could try searching auction results on spink.com

spink handle a lot of Chinese and Hong Kong notes

Thanks bro, you know how America has its own signature differentiations in catalogues and Numista, I wish Hong Kong had that, so I can write down and collect all the signature varieties.

Kang,

Owen Linzmayer is trying to rectify a lot of errors that were made in the Pick catalogues - especially in relation to signature charts.

Send him an email to owen@banknotenews.com , & tell him to get in touch with you regarding the Hong Kong chapters.

Aidan.

You might also try KS3351Productions.  He collects notes from Hong Kong & posted a pretty long thread about his collection here.

As you are based in HK, I would suggest that you either contact the bank HQ in person or via email to see if they can assist you with your inquiry. Each bank has a team that handles public inquiries and they should be able to find that out for you (if they want to). It may not be overnight, as this may take some time. I did my research for the signatures of Guernsey (WC Bull; MJ Brown) and for the latest signatures for those current French Pacific Territories) this way too. The other option is to look for the bank annual reports as they should have names mentioned there with their respective titles too.

I also understand that you can get the HK banknotes catalogue in HK too. Perhaps they have the info there you are looking for. If you need help, perhaps get in touch with your local dealers and they should be able to assist.

Good luck
