Germe on the Rhyndacus, also known as Hiera Germa (Holy Germa) or Germa in Hellesponto, was a city of ancient Mysia in Asia Minor. It belonged to the Conventus of Pergamum, in the province of Asia. Germe was situated between the rivers Macestus and Rhyndacus, near modern-day Karaçam in Savaştepe, Turkey. Coins were not issued by Germe before the Flavian period, when two denominations were minted, both probably under Emperor Titus. Coinage was resumed under Trajan, when strategos Ioulios Artemidoros, issued a series with two large denominations. Four more series without the name of a strategos were issued under Trajan in five denominations: Æ28–32 (14.96 g); Æ26–27 (11.45 g); Æ21–22 (5.68 g); Æ18–19 (4.01 g); and Æ15–17 (2.93 g). Coinage continued steadily until the reigns of Philip the Arab (AD 244-249) and Philip II (247-249).
