Coin is from 2016, but the map of europe is from pre 2008 times. Edge inscription should say Slovenia, it does not, there are much more letters, unreadable.  When you turn the coin around the year 2016 is not at the bottom, everything is rotated a bit to the left. Diagonal line from the top left to the bottom center is there but the sides it divides are not different like on the pictures i found online. Anyone knows anything about this? Sorry about the bad pics and english. Thanks.

It looks like a modified coin. The mark on both sides where the metals meet make me suspect the center was taken out and modified.

Could you try taking in-focus images of both sides and the edge?

Here is the coin involved: N#80936

Here is a coin with the old map: N#80

I googled edge inscriptions and found one that fits perfectly, EINIGKEIT UND RECHT UND FREIHEIT.

So they took a German coin ( N#112 ), popped out the center, and replaced it with part of that center and part of the center of a coin from Slovenia.

Popping out and replacing the centre wouldn't result in a mismatch between the obverse and reverse as the centre has both the Slovenian design and old match. In addition, the design of the obverse continues in the outer ring.

I suspect it's a forgery as the obverse lacks the textured design to the left of the diagonal line and the letters on the edge seem way simpler and less neat than on the German two euro coins I have seen.

Thanks, i didn't even know they were being forged..

“ A fake coin will have poor quality image detail, a different coloured ring or core, missing edge lettering, or incorrect spelling."

Mine does have different coloured ring among other things..

I have another like that.. there must be a lot of them around. This spanish looks legit. It's just missing some stars on the left side.

Forgers and people who aquire them probably want to flood Croatia with forgeries so long the people are still unfamiliar with the money.
