Help with cataloguing an Austro-Hungarian note stamped in Vučitrn (Yugoslavia)

Hello,

In my collection, I have a 20 krone banknote from Austria-Hungary from 1913. However, it has a stamp on it. Namely, right when Asutria-Hungary dissolved, but before Yugoslavia started issuing its money, it was common for towns and cities to put their stamps on Austro-Hungarian money, therefore making it a vali payment tool. I happen to own one of such notes, which was stamped in Vučitrn.

However, the problem is that I do not know how to put it in my collection - Yugoslav notgeld doesn’t have such notes and I don‘t know where else to look / create new catalogue entries.

Any help is welcome and thanks in advance!

At a guess, I would say it goes under Austria-Hungary.

Sound like emergency issues, or better re-issues to me. How long was this interim period between the two states?

I don’t know. I can only find in literature that that type of ’validating’ notes was quickly scrapped. I would guess that it did not last more than one year.

I think I may have found your note.

Under Yugoslavia (SCWPM, 16th Ed. p1303, cat no. p7), 1919 Second Provisional Issue, old date 2.1.1913, adhesive stamp affixed.

Here is the numista page for SCWPM p7.

Is this similar to your note?

Although I doubt you've found the right one (my note does not have a stamp on it), could you please post an image? I sadly do not own a copy of the SCWPM.

It is the same Austro-Hungarian one, but the stamps are different. The one in the catalogue was stamped by the Ministry of finance, while the one I have was stamped by something im Vučitrn (the ink/note has been worn down quite badly, so Vučitrn is the only thing one can read). Plus, my one does not have an adhesive stamp.

I do not think it is in numista’s catalogue, as I have read that there exist ~2300 different stamps which were used like the one from Vučitrn.

This is getting very interesting.

Could you post a good quality picture of your note.

As SCWPM has a listing for these under Yugoslavia, I would still go for listing yours as an early Yugoslavian note - perhaps a notgeld type of issue, that is town or district specific?

Here you go. The red is the text I could read, blue is the transliteration and green is the text I was unsure about.

So, any idea on what I should do?
