French Victory in Algeria

Greetings to all,

 

I'm new to this site and I would like to ask for help identifying a coin that I have been researching for awhile.

I'm not sure if this is a French Victory over Algeria, ca, 1857 Commemorative medal and linked to 

Mahmud II, Ottman empire.

 

I would appreciate any help.
