Most coins found from Sudan in 1970 come from the proof sets of that year. However, there are non-proof versions of some of the coins, notably the 5 Milliemes, 10 Milliemes, 2 Qirsh, and 10 Qirsh. There are enough differences between these proof and non-proof versions that Krause gave them different numbers (41.1, 41.2, etc.).
However, the 1 Millieme coin is also listed as available in proof and non-proof versions, but without a different Krause number. I have been searching for a non-proof version for several years without success, yet a significant percentage of Numista users are shown owning it. I sent a message to the referee of those coins (maurilp04) asking about this, but haven't gotten a response.
I was wondering if it was possible for those people claiming to have the non-proof Sudan 1970 1 Millieme to be polled to clarify if they do actually have a proof version instead of the non-proof version as indicated. (A similar technique was used to resolve a discrepancy with the Bolivia Pesos in the years 1968-1980 where the Krause book differed from the actual mint records.) Alternatively, seeing photos of both the proof and non-proof version would help settle if I need to bother continuing my search.
Thanks.
