Where I did start collecting coins and banknotes?
Four months prior to this, in February 2018; a motorised tricycle driver gave me a ¼ dollar coin from the United States instead of 1 piso coin. It was a long process to just achieve twelve coins in my collection in June 2018. Sometime in the third week of June 2018, I purchased a banknote from the United States in my city, Taguig, for just a face value. On 23 June 2018, I full-fledgedly started coin and banknote collecting with over 10 coins and a banknote in my collection.
Road to 100 coins
Initially, I purchase coins and banknotes seldomly, and usually bring just under a dollar to buy them which took two months to achieve 100 coins in my collection.
Road to 1000 coins
To boost my coin collection, I go to classrooms where their classes were 10:00am–2:00pm, and mine as a 7th grade student back then, our classes were from 6:00am until 12:00pm. So before my lunch, I gather to classrooms for just 30 minutes to notify people whether if they have coins / banknotes or not. I started it on September 2018; and just a month later, I got over 400 coins added to my collection, making a total of 500 coins.
The road to 1000 coins in my collection is not yet over. In October 2018, I purchase / people give me a total of another 500 coins to have a 1000 coins in my collection, including the duplicates.
My account on Numista
In order to track my growing coin collection, I registered in Numista on 8 November 2018. My username CyrusPamelaOne: derived from “Cyrus” as my name, and the song in the latter that was released in 2004. That was my favourite song from December 2017 until July 2020. Currently, my favourite song is Alone by Marshmello.
Adding more countries and mission to complete all the types of years
Most of the collectors that I see complete all years only for their country, and types for the rest of the world. For me, I included year completions for all countries as there are coins as well having key dates. But still there are countries that do not mint coins for circulation today but they did before or just mint coins in non-circulating form.

It all started in 2021 when all of my duplicates was planned to sell to other collectors; and by December 2021, I removed all of my duplicates on my Numista coin database, leading to have 2800+ coins from 5100+ in my collection.
Being a YouTuber
In December 2021, I started uploading videos on my usual weekly coin purchases from different Metro Manila cities. My channel, Cyrus Marikit, is another pioneer for reshaping coin collecting not just here in the Philippines, but also almost all English-speaking countries as well as Indonesia and Malaysia (due to putting subtitles, except episodes 3–34 of my coin and banknote collecting segment.
CPO today
Today, I store coins on jars (since October 2018), and albums (since 2021); and for banknotes, on album (since September 2022). From 12 coins, it increased to over 4000 today. Starting July, I will only bring less money (for up to US$4) to buy coins and banknotes (except for holidays and coin and banknote collecting anniversaries) as I also save my money for college (my course is ICT, by the way). But it does not mean that I will stop collecting coins and banknotes. It is still on track for me, and does not stop because of issuing new coins for circulation this year and the future.
