I am interested to see what other people's Collection History chart looks like. I only collect bye type, and I don't do trades on Numista, so my chart only has 1 line. I have also just reached 2000 different coin types! 🎊🎉

Quite a new member, just changed my policy to no swaps, so it is quite messy.. Changed a few times actually..

*inspecting a Roman mintmark*

At the beginning still acquiring world coin lots, slowly changing to add only a handful of coins per year and filling gaps in my year collection.
In the middle I reclassified a large portion of my doubles to swap (not really for swapping just to separate them from my actual collection).

I have my doubles in an Excel sheet, since I also trade outside Numista.

Collection by type,

growing slowly cause I spend more time  shaping my collection and analyzing the historical character of my coins than increasing the size of my collection.

Hi to whoever is reading this. Did you know that TYPEWRITER (on a QWERTY keyboard) is the longest word you can type using only the letters on one row of the keyboard.

Well, this was a new twist of a thread. Here's my history:

My history is very interesting. I had been saving some coins on and off since 2009, but only joined Numista and started listing my coins on it in mid 2014. At that stage I had around 1500 - 2000 coins

Between 2014 and 2018, I mainly just saved cheap world coins and on sold any nice silver or better coins I got off my two old ladies who ran a charity shop (My childhood collection got stolen out of my car in 2001, put me off serious collecting for years.

However in 2018 I stopped gambling and started working full time and as a result I had money for the first time in my life. However my partner disapproved of me spending too much. He got very sick in late 2021 and as a result my collection took off. As you can see its really grown in the past 18 months, hitting 10k late last year. Sadly he died in March (I missed him despite his lack of encouragement for my collecting mania with coins).

The dips are when I perodically sell things on Trade Me, mostly accumulations of common NZ and world coins, although the ladies have retired and I have done few bulk buy ins. Most of my collection now is higher quality pieces. Of the 11.5k coins, some 2k are each of NZ, Australia, GB and mostly silver or high value pieces. Before 2019 they were mostly base metal coins that were worth change only.

I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.

Sorry for your loss Moneytane. I really enjoy reading your posts about the history of each and every coin and Banknote you have in your collection, believe me you have some amazing coins in your collection.

I'm scared that my collection will disappear one day 😓. I don't enjoy starting things all over again, so I would most likely give up

Thanks Worldwide Collection - I appreciate the compliments.

N.N Ben I entirely agree, I was so angry about losing my coins for such a dumb reason. I should have been more careful! It made me angry enough to give up coins for years, but at the same time, my life was very unstable between 2001 and 2008.  When I started keeping coins again, I did it on the side as I was hook line and sinker into stamps. But finally after meeting coin collectors in stamp clubs, I got into coins again.

Plus my life is much more stable now and coin collecting is more doable. I mean I moved 33 times between 1994 and 2008. I have been in the same place since 2008.
