IN this article  https://en.numista.com/forum/topic54585.html  it says the Papal Scudo was created in 1588, and for Papal States - Rome, the Numista currencies reflect this, with the Soldo as currency in the 12th - early 16th centuries, and the Scudo after (though with a small gap).

But we have coins of other Papal States (Ancona, Ascoli, Fermo, Macerata, etc.)  struck before 1500, which could not have been on the scudo:

N#300778

N#117699

N#348398

N#320452

I understand that Bologna kept a different system than Rome, so the large number of Bologna coins does not need to be considered.

And there are not a lot of coins in these other places (maybe a dozen, all in Marche, I think).

I don't have any of the relevant catalogs, so I don't have a good solution to offer. But just wanted to point out this small  inconsistency (since I am occasionally adding early coins that I am fairly sure should not be on the scudo currency system).

Hi, first Scudo coin was issued in 1534 by Paul III in Rome, and in 1523 in Bologna by Clement VII.

I think these should be the marked year to change from Ducat to Scudo

Yes, that would close the gap we currently have in the currency in the 1500s.
