Hello,

I often receive requests to add diameters and thickness for hammered coins. But taking into account the manufacture technology they are always variable.

Shall I approve such requests? Wouldn't it be better to just remove these fields for hammered coins, or add “variable” by default?

At least a rough value is better than non and common sense (even if it's severely lacking in recent years) should be sufficient for the interpretation of the data. If not in the fields at least a comment addition would be nice.

I am not agree with hiding these data. It is always better to know the approximate diameter/thickness than nothing. And… if diameter/thickness is variable… I suppose the weight too. Hide we the weight?

Can be added something to warn about the measure. For example, if the diameter is 20 mm more or less, can be display as

  • 20 mm (approx.),
  • 18-22 mm (if the variation is 2 mm) or
  • 20±2mm (if the variation is 2 mm).
Wanted & swap list (euro coins & world coins, exonumia and banknotes circulated) https://goo.gl/AQjfKp - I have euro & world CC coins for swap.

Usually there are some standard for the weight, but no standards for diameter

In case this field is still there, shall I just approve additions from someone who measured their own coin? Even in case diameter of another one of the same type may be e.g. 50% more

Yes please, approve. Of course it might and most probably is off value, but at least it is a value.
