From the IBNS (International Bank Note Society):

The International Bank Note Society (IBNS) announces that its voting membership has for the first time selected the Philippines Central Bank to receive its annual prestigious “Bank Note of the Year Award” for 2022. With nearly 100 new banknotes released worldwide during 2022, only 19 were deemed of sufficiently new design to be member nominated.

Same here.

I just thought I'd share this tidbit partly b/c I really like the 1000 Pesos & I was just there.  I also have found it ironic how young Filipinos love this 1000 Pesos note while the older generation dislike it (or won't use it).  I just learned by the IBNS article that they're still printing the paper version to honour the 3 heroes portrayed on the note.

I love this note also. One of my favorite notes now.

There are two main reasons why this note is hated so much in the Philippines. The first reason was the removal of the war heroes that are depicted on the paper version. The other reason was for the support of Philippine farmers. There is a plant that farmers grow that is incorporated into paper notes to make them stronger. The farmers were/are dismayed at the prospect of losing one of their cash crops to polymer currency.

Don't want to knick pick too much, but pesos have not been used in the Philippines since 1969 which is when the Piso (Piso is singular and plural) was introduced. I know old habits die hard. LOL!!

Well, I still prefer Aruba banknotes or Pacific Island banknotes in terms of colors and designs

And Mexican 50 pesos was probabily more original than this one

However, I will get one for my collection
