I need help finding out what this is

4 posts • viewed 99 times

I am trying to identify this coin, the dimensions here are an estimate since I didnt measure it and dont have it with me at the moment.

diameter 5cm roughly, thickness around 3-5mm

It is rather heavy but most likely due to the size of it.

I have no idea about composition

I have googled and searched for the text and date on the coin but cant find anything.

Anyone have any idea ?

I guess you had it already but the date is April 14th 1784, that's as far as I can go so far.

Edit: Universitates Haf/vniensis = The University of Copenhagen

Edit2 : if you speak German,I guess that's a reference to your medal..

Hi  johann,

I would try a search in Denmark, King Frederik VI  (1768-1839).

The medal seems to refer to him as a patron of the universities of Kopenhavn and Kiel  in relation with an 60-year anniversary (14 April 1774 - 14 april 1834) …. but I don't know what kind of anniversary that might have been .

Best regards
