Maybe you never thought of this before, or maybe you liked a coin, but there was something about the design you could improve. Maybe you have a strong liking to a particular nation or you feel that a particular nation needs to issue a new series, like US, Korean, Swiss, or Japanese coins.
Some five things about your series:
1. Country of issue (existing or made up)
2. Monarch, leader, or none
3. Composition of each coin (metal and size)
4. Years in circulation
5. What coin(s) inspired your design, if any
If you want to be really creative, put up some drawings of your coin series. I'll put up some of my design ideas on a reply post this week.
I'm really curious and excited to see what bright ideas you guys have!

Hard to say for me. Considering how many different series of Canadian quarters there was in recent history (and I have all of them) it's hard to come up with something interesting.
There is also another (still running) series of Latvian 1 Lats coins started in 2001. Most of them are nice but some are just so-so. Pairing them though can be so much fun. How about this with that?
1. Country of issue: France
2. Republic
3. Composition of each coin: Copper; 30mm
4. Years in circulation: 1910-1915
5. What coin(s) inspired your design, if any: My Medal!
ye, no time to do the head today, but the reverse is nicely done! :D
every letter in Republique Francaise had to be cut and pasted individually because of dumb photoshop's regs... so... enjoy 2 and a half+ hours of work! (yes, I'm a noob at photoshop...)
this was actually really fun...
EDIT: idea by dptashny. @dptashny, I will send you a private non-overprinted image on your email.

I imagine this as a global type of coin, probably somewhere in 19200, where people finally realized that we have only a tiny planet and it is completely pointless to draw borders and kill each other just because the other is looking a bit different/believes in some different magical man in the sky or anything like that, but every former country can make it's own design between some "borders". Like the Euros these days, every country has it's own design but it is good across Europe. Vatican would be the headquarters of the planet Earth, there would reside the planet's global leadership, supervised by a Moya-like Leviathan ship from the sky.
Unfortunately with this imminent threat from the end of the world this can be classified as a complete Utopia

1. Argentina (that has a serious problem with coin designs, they are ugly u.u)
3. 1/4 centavo: copper
1/2 centavo: copper
1 centavo: brass
5 centavos: brass
10 centavos: nordic gold
25 centavos: copper nickel
50 centavos: bimetallic (ring in copper nickel - core in nordic gold)
1 peso: bimetallic (ring in nordic gold - core in copper)
2 pesos: silver 0.720 (for circulation!)
5 pesos: for set issues (like the 50 canadian cents) - silver 0.999
4. Now!
5. I'd use a lot of allegories and the common Oudiné Liberty Face that the Argentinian people is used to see in coins and banknotes from 1880 up to 1992!)
You may see my sketches (and, if I have time, the prototypes photoshopped with special fx) by these days!
If you don't understand it properly, i wanted to represent the Freedom with the 1/2; 1/4 and 1 Centavo coins; the Navy and the Sea with the 5Cts. coin; the Democracy with the 10Cts.; the Argentinian Flora and Fauna with the 25 Cts. and the Argentinian Architecture with the 50 Cts. coin. The 1 Peso coin shows the Monument to the Argentinian Flag and José de San Martín, Father of the Motherland. The 2 Pesos shows the Argentinian flag and an allegory of the Republic.
Regards
They seriously look legit, as if you worked for the mint and you were a designer. You should submit these if they plan to demonitize the peso they're using today.

Thank you very much! In fact, I went once to the Central Bank and submitted a design (without the existence of a contest or something like that). But they rejected it because coin designs are "exclusive for the employees of the Bank and the Argentinian Mint".
They don't let you progress
Haha however, I do see myself as a "coin designer"
Thank you, again!

Strike your own coins! Those designs are too good to not be on coins.

Haha I wish I had the money! It must be really expensive to strike a few coins :/

I can only imagine. Plus the cost of electricity it takes to strike the 12 coins per second.

It doesn't cost that much, but you have to do it in bulk. Or you can make your own screw press and make dies and blanks out of metal clay. That should cost almost nothing.

Haha my parents would kill me if I do such thing (I'm good at handcrafts but I leave a mess behind me)
Besides there's no such thing as metal clay here, the closest thing I could get is mud clay
I hope someday I can mint them
Thank you for your support!
PS: I found a place like the links ZacUK posted near my house, so maybe I can ask them if they could mint them!

Hey everyone, I've been in contact with several mints around the world including in the USA and Canada. What I have found is that it costs 400-2,000 dollars per side to design a coin. That's crazy. For a good looking design we are looking at 1-2k per coin design! But I am planning to introduce a new currency (called a silver check) that has been approved in our town known as the silver gram. But to do this I'm waiting for designers, that guy who made the Argentinian design will get a PM right about now.
Want coins banknotes and antiques for a fair price or for trade? http://coinsnnotes.tk is your solution! Also lets trade! My coins are better than VG! Associated with coinsnnotesUK.

I'm going to make an improvised hammer die (improvised so that it has a "collar" and the coin stays round), use melted down silver, and make myself a coin.

I would reform the NZ coinage and replace the dollar with a new currency called the “Kiwi”. There would be no sub units and the Kiwi would be the base unit.
1 Kiwi = 10 cents now.
Coins 1 - 500 Full circulation with no questions - all base and muck metals.
1, 2, 5 Kiwi all copper and sizes, 15mm, 20mm, 25mm and weights 1.5 grams, 3 grams and 7.5grams
100 Kiwi - Nickel plated steel - 33mm - weight 15 grams (This is equivalent of $10)
250 Kiwi - Brass - 27mm - weight 10 grams
500 Kiwi - Bimetallic, steel outer ring and brass centre - 30mm - weight 12 grams
The coins below would be mostly souvenir coins and not really used in circulation - banknotes would be used for 1k to 100k Kiwi. They are legal tender though but only approved citizens could use them and no gangsters, criminals or casinos could use the coins above 5,000 Kiwi.
1,000 Kiwi - 90% silver - 20mm, weight 3.5 grams
2,500 Kiwi - 90% silver - 26mm, weight 8.75 grams
5,000 Kiwi - 90% silver - 31mm, weight 17.5 grams
10,000 Kiwi - 90% GOLD - 17mm weight 2.8 grams
25,000 Kiwi - 90% GOLD - 22mm weight 7.0 grams
50,000 Kiwi - 90% GOLD - 26.5mm weight 14 grams
100,000 Kiwi - 90% GOLD - 32mm weight 28 grams
250,000 Kiwi - Platinum - 25mm weight 10 grams
500,000 Kiwi - Platinum - 30mm weight 20 grams
1,000,000 Kiwi - Platinum 35mm weight 40 grams
5,000,000 Kiwi - Platinum stuffed with a diamond and rubies 100mm by 65 mm oblong and weighing 200 grams.
I love coins. Especially silver, gold and anything really old.
