While surfing on numista, I saw that among the uncertain Germanic tribes there is a tribe called the Mauri. They are not Germanic, but Berber.

Shouldnt they  have a separate section ?

Mauri (from which derives the English term "Moors") was the Latin designation for the Berber population of Mauretania, located in the part of North Africa west of Numidia, in present-day northern Morocco and northwestern Algeria.

The old provinces of the Roman Diocese of Africa were mostly preserved by the Vandals, but large parts, including almost all of Mauretania Tingitana, much of Mauretania Caesariensis and Mauretania Sitifensis and large parts of the interior of Numidia and Byzacena, had been lost to the inroads of Berber tribes, now collectively called the Mauri (later Moors) as a generic term for "the Berber tribes in the province of Mauretania".

Can you link examples of entries please?

From what I remember some coins are indicated as possibly Mauri, which means they can possibly not be too

Yes this is true. Im talking about this ones : Possibly Mauri - Nummus (circa 501-534) Please correct me if im wrong.

Near Vandal kingdom  there were couple berberic tribes : Romano-Berber Kingdoms of northern Africa after the collapse of the Mauro-Roman Kingdom, from left to right; Altava, Ouarsenis, Hodna, Aurès, Nemencha, Capsus, Dorsale and Tripolis.  So if  coins placec under UGT are possibly Mauri i assume they are closer to the berberic tribes mentioned above the germanic.

on other hand, here you have a link  http://www.constantinethegreatcoins.com/Germans/ that says that this coins are under Vandal and mark as pseudo issue. we have such case at numista : Frankish Kingdom. Here we dont have uncertain french tribe or any other country, this issues were incorporated  into frankish kingdom. Maybe they should be splited ?

It is because for Frankish tribes these pseudo imperial issues are known by experts as being frankish kings issues (first merovingian types, due to support brought by Byzantium to some of them).

I guess experts know less about thos possibly Mauri issues… I'd stick with comments at this stage. Maybe we oculd replace “Uncertain Germanic tribes” by just “Uncertain North-African tribes” ?

Understand, thanks.

Its a good idea but what to do with other coins that are not north african ?

Indeed. Lets stay with current if ok for you?

Current is ok for rest coin i think but for possibly mauri i think not. Maybe renamed  both ? Uncertain Berber & Germanic tribes  or  Uncertain north african & Germanic tribes ?
