New currency Western African States? [solved]

Hello. 

According to my sources there will be a new currency for the WAS. The western African frank (WAF) will be replaced by the ECO (I was told) .

Reason = to become more independent from France, though the new currency would still be associated with the euro. Due to the Corona crisis it was postponed. 

Anyone have an idea when the new currency should be available? If so? 

My friend is currently in the area and they still use the WAF.

The West African States still use their version of the C.F.A. Franc - which is equal in value to the Central African States C.F.A. Franc, but the West African C.F.A. Franc cannot circulate in Central African C.F.A. Franc countries.
