Reference Material

The reference catalogues says there are 2117 currently in the database.

Would it be possible to add either on the link above or on a members profile what references that member owns? If multiple references are owned?

That way someone could reach out and ask in a PM from another member about a reference. Maybe even a way to add for trading reference material.

I can see this being useful. There have been times I've posted in the forums “The coin has a Frobble reference. Can someone who has Frobble look up the coin to see what it says?”.

Another way to handle this would be to let someone select a reference and say “I need information from this reference” and have notifications go to the people with the reference. That wouldn't require the lists of reference books to be public.

(One complication: When a new edition of a reference comes out the reference list is updated but the copies on shelves don't get updated. People won't always have the correct editions. Not that the latest will always be the best edition to answer a question.)

I suspect this won't be the highest priority item to add to Numista.
